Elision Based Text Zooming
نویسنده
چکیده
Scrolling through text documents is a cumbersome and ineffective means of getting context and overview. I present a superior technique that augments scrolling by using elision to simulate zooming. This allows smooth, rapid transitions between overview and detail and effectively supports the task of recovering lost context when reading or navigating through a document. I describe an implementation of the technique for a popular web browser. CR

Hidden Messages: Evaluating the Effectiveness of Code Elision in Program Navigation
Text elision is a user interface technique that aims to improve the efficiency of navigating through information by allowing regions of text to be ‘folded’ into and out of the display. Several researchers have argued that elision interfaces are particularly suited to source code editing because they allow programmers to focus on relevant code regions while suppressing the display of irrelevant ...

متن کاملPaisleyTrees: A Size-Invariant Tree Visualization
Squeezing large tree structures into suitable visualizations has been a perennial problem. In response to this challenge, we present PaisleyTrees, a size-invariant tree visualization. PaisleyTrees integrate node-of-interest focus with tree-cut presentations to support rapid tree navigation without resorting to zooming and panning. This visualization offers the ability to work with trees of arbi...
متن کاملA Sociolinguistic Analysis of Intervocalic /b/ in Caracas Speech *
The present study examines the linguistic and extra-linguistic factors influencing variation in the elision of the voiced bilabial stop /b/ in intervocalic position by native Spanish speakers of Caracas, Venezuela. The corpus for this study consists of 36 sociolinguistic interviews evenly distributed by sex, three socio-economic levels, and three age groups. A total of 1800 tokens (50 per speak...
متن کاملVisualization of Large Nested Graphs in 3D: Navigation and Interaction
Most systems for visualizing large information structures use 2D graphics to view networks of nodes and arcs that represent data. To understand large structures it is often necessary to show both small-scale and large-scale structure. This has been called the problem of focus and context. Distortion, rapid zooming, elision, and multiple windows are all techniques that have been developed to pro...
